Glass House
This exquisite contemporary insertion was designed to increase the rear portion of this semi-detached Victorian home. The juxtaposition of a clean, frameless wrap-over glazed roof and rear wall with the charming brickwork of the rest of the house creates a stunning contrast. The glazing of the new side return allows loads of sunlight to flood the interior, which itself is a charming composition of period features and detailing within a modern setting. Additionally the entire ground floor has been re-worked and renovated, including a new bar, utility space and children’s playroom.
Set within historic Dulwich Estate, an extra layer of planning consents were required to permit this proposal, but all the hard work has been well worth it. We have created a truly beautiful modern home, warm and full of light and joy within a period property; a beautiful family home, which will be full of laugther for years to come.
